{"id":4593,"date":"2013-08-15T08:10:03","date_gmt":"2013-08-15T12:10:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.elfster.com\/blog\/?p=4593"},"modified":"2023-02-10T14:09:16","modified_gmt":"2023-02-10T19:09:16","slug":"online-group-offers-members-friendship-support-and-understanding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.elfster.com\/blog\/2013\/08\/15\/online-group-offers-members-friendship-support-and-understanding\/","title":{"rendered":"Online group offers members friendship, support and understanding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Many people are faced with the prospect of wanting to have a child and not being able, due to infertility issues.\u00a0 The struggle can be an extremely emotional one, that is often not shared with friends and family &#8212; it\u2019s hard to explain or articulate the feelings.\u00a0 Having a person to talk to that can completely understand what you are going through can make a huge difference.\u00a0 Elfster was pleased to find a group of women that are offering each other support through gift exchanges, where the gifts exchanged become meaningful reminders for the members.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-10011\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.elfster.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/lucky-socks.jpg\" alt=\"ivf luck charm\" width=\"244\" height=\"325\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.elfster.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/lucky-socks.jpg 570w, https:\/\/www.elfster.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/lucky-socks-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.elfster.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/lucky-socks-203x270.jpg 203w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 244px) 100vw, 244px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The group has all connected on an infertility resource message board.\u00a0 After getting to know each other on the main forum, they spun off and created their own subset of about 75 members, all of whom have been struggling with conception for a long time.<\/p>\n<p>As a way to encourage each other they began hosting gift exchanges over the past several years.\u00a0 The most recent exchange was a lucky sock or flip flop exchange.\u00a0 The purpose of this exchange was to send footwear that the recipient could use to wear to their treatments.\u00a0 According to the exchange organizer, Denise, \u201c Infertility can be a lonely road, so it is nice to go to appointments with a reminder of our supportive group.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since the women have been using Elfster for more than a year to host different exchanges, they all have answered different questions, and added items to their wishlists.
