{"id":4573,"date":"2013-06-04T15:54:42","date_gmt":"2013-06-04T19:54:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.elfster.com\/blog\/?p=4573"},"modified":"2023-03-29T10:36:16","modified_gmt":"2023-03-29T14:36:16","slug":"moms-honor-two-years-of-friendships-and-community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.elfster.com\/blog\/2013\/06\/04\/moms-honor-two-years-of-friendships-and-community\/","title":{"rendered":"Moms honor two years of friendships and community"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.staticflickr.com\/3019\/3016853408_7b6fc68445_m.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Meeting people who share your interests and outlook is usually a great way to start a friendship.\u00a0 Being able to share your ideas and thoughts with people who have similar ideas and can relate to what you are going through is often just what you need.\u00a0 Elfster has found a group of moms who have been able to do just that.<\/p>\n<p>The group, now known as the Crunchy March Mommies, or CMMs, met each other while they were all expecting children in March of 2012 on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.babycenter.com\">BabyCenter<\/a>.\u00a0 After getting to know each other there, they created their own Facebook group and became the CMMs.\u00a0 A shared interest in attachment parenting and a more eco conscious lifestyle is what initially drew the group together.<\/p>\n<p>Today, there are about 30 women who are part of the CMMs.\u00a0 According to Jessica Schidler, one of the members, they are \u201clike one big extended family.\u00a0 Going through the same stage in life and supporting each other.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As a way to have fun and get to know each other better, the group has hosted several gift exchanges.\u00a0 The first exchange was for Christmas 2012.\u00a0 The exchange went so well, that they decided to have another exchange to celebrate all of the babies turning one in March of 2013.\u00a0 Now, the group is marking the two year anniversary of their community and swapping gifts again.<\/p>\n<p>The theme for the current exchange is handmade items.\u00a0 All of the members are encouraged to either make something themselves, or purchase something from a small business or independent artist.\u00a0 The members are using their wishlists to add items ranging from handmade jewelry, to locally grown plants and decorative items for both home and garden.\u00a0 Questions and answers are helping the friends check to see what is needed or wanted.<\/p>\n<p>The anniversary exchange is set to take place on July 15th, so the group can continue to look for the perfect item for their swap partner over the next few weeks.\u00a0 Celebrating the formation of a special community with a gift exchange is a great way to stay in touch, reinforce your friendships, and have some fun.\u00a0 Hooray for the CMMs, and congratulations on creating such a vibrant and connected community!\u00a0 Two years, and going strong.<\/p>\n<p>We would love to hear the story of your community and how you are using Elfster,\u00a0 too.\u00a0 You can reach us via Facebook <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/elfster\">here<\/a>, or Tweet us @elfster.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>photo credit:\u00a0 Lucky Duck Designs, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/ursulaandolive\/\">Ursula and Olive<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\">&nbsp; Meeting people who share your interests and outlook is usually a great way to start a friendship.\u00a0 Being able to share your ideas and thoughts with people who have similar ideas and can relate <a class=\"mh-excerpt-more\" href=\"https:\/\/www.elfster.com\/blog\/2013\/06\/04\/moms-honor-two-years-of-friendships-and-community\/\" title=\"Moms honor two years of friendships and community\">[read more]<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"author":2742,"featured_media":6106,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"inline_featured_image":false,"wprm-recipe-roundup-name":"","wprm-recipe-roundup-description":"","_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[532,528],"tags":[],"class_list":{"0":"post-4573","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-gift-giving","8":"category-kids-and-family"},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
