Halloween is almost here, and by now most people have their costumes ready to go.\u00a0 For some people, they may not want to commit to a full costume, but there\u2019s a whole world of ways to celebrate with a special Halloween accent!\u00a0 Recently, an Elfster group celebrated Halloween by exchanging spooky nail polish and nail designs.\u00a0 We asked one of the participants, Jessica Beswick, the nail blogger behind Ruby’s Nails<\/a> to help us with some awesome ideas for making your nails spooky.\u00a0 Hope you enjoy these, and be sure to check out more creative designs on Jessica\u2019s blog.<\/p>\n

Here is what Jessica had to say:<\/p>\n

\u201cJazzing up your nails for the holidays is so easy because they are so many different ideas out there for each holiday! Today I am going to show you some fun ideas to make your nails stand out for this Halloween, ranging from simple to more complex.<\/p>\n

The easiest way is to just apply a Halloween themed polish. They are many big name companies with Halloween polishes out, but smaller indie companies have them as well.\u00a0 For this first manicure, I used a color called ERMAHGERD CANDY CORMS by Smitten Polish.<\/p>\n

Another simple Halloween design is to use stickers. Simply apply any color nail polish you would like (I used Layla Softouch in Fire It Up) and add your Halloween stickers. The ones I used were gifted to me by a friend through an Elfster Halloween swap.<\/p>\n

\"skulls\"<\/a><\/p>\n

These next two Halloween nail designs are a bit more complex.\u00a0 In order to create them, I pulled out some of my nail art tools: brushes and dotting tools. These items can be bought in beauty supply stores, online, or made with things you have around the house.<\/p>\n

This first design features Essence Rich & Pretty as the base coat.\u00a0 Then I added on the spider, writing, and web using black nail polish and a tiny little brush. You could use acrylic paint if you wanted to! The eyes of the spider were created with a dotting tool (but you can a toothpick\/bobby pin) and white polish. Finally I added some black glitter on my ring finger for a fun accent.<\/p>\n

This last Halloween nail design I have to showcase is the most complicated.\u00a0 First you need to start off with a base color of your choice. I went with a darker color with a hint of shimmer and used Jane Eyre by A-England. This polish is another gift from my Elfster swap.<\/p>\n

Next, I added in all the little details using my tiny nail art brush and nail polish. Again you can use acrylic paint instead, just make sure to put a top coat on afterwards to seal in your hard work.\u00a0 The nail polishes that I used were OPI Don\u2019t Mess with OPI (green), Rimmel Grey Matter (grey), Rimmel Black Satin (black), Sinful Colors Nirvana (brown), Sally Hansen Whirlwind White (white), and OPI The \u201cIt\u201d Color (yellow).\u201d<\/p>\n
