\"\"Here in the North Pole, our idea of a \u201cgood scare\u201d is when Rudolph comes down with a case of the sniffles! But this week, one Elfster intern found herself smack dab in the middle of a Halloween horror flick. With a flashlight poised eerily under-chin, today\u00a0we tell\u00a0her tale! [Cue clap of thunder.]\n

True story…\u00a0It was a dark and snowy morning.\u00a0 Walking to work,\u00a0Intern Steph\u00a0prepared\u00a0to hand-deliver an updated draft of Santa\u2019s \u201cNaughty List\u201d to the Big Boss himself.\u00a0\u00a0 As you can imagine,\u00a0this made her\u00a0pretty nervous!<\/p>\n

Usually accompanied by an armored fleet of reindeer (what else are they going to do in the off-season?), on this particular morning, she\u00a0decided to forgo the fuss and give the crew the day off… Big mistake. Not long after leaving the cottage, Intern Steph\u00a0began to sense that she\u00a0was not alone. Despite the seasonal sub-zero temperatures, it wasn\u2019t every day that the hairs on the back of\u00a0her neck stood\u00a0on end. \u00a0Someone, or something, was following her!<\/p>\n

With each stride,\u00a0Intern Steph heard the unexplained patter of footsteps behind her. She\u00a0stopped to survey\u00a0her surroundings, but\u00a0to\u00a0her surprise,\u00a0she was entirely alone! What was really troubling, however, was the fact that\u00a0Steph was trudging through 12 feet of snow. Whoever was following\u00a0her was apparently having a pretty easy time it, finding solid enough footing to produce an echo. But the unseen stalker teased her, only stepping when\u00a0Steph stepped.\u00a0She slowed, and so did they\u2026When\u00a0she sped up, their pace quickened, too. It was frustrating and frightening at the same time!<\/p>\n

\"Photo:Our Hero tried to play it cool, licking\u00a0her lips to whistle\u00a0a favorite holiday jingle nonchalantly. But soon the industrious intern realized\u00a0she was too terrified to remember the tune! Her teeth chattered\u00a0more than the time she\u00a0took up competitive snow cone eating. \u00a0All the while, she bravely continued, remembering\u00a0her Elf\u2019s Oath to risk life and limb to deliver the scroll (or coffee, depending on the occasion).\u00a0But those footsteps sure were alarming… Something had to be done.<\/p>\n

With a ferocity that surprised even herself, Intern Steph flung open\u00a0her knapsack to access\u00a0her street-legal, Santa-issue Stun Gun (North Poll elves lead pretty perilous lives). It was then that\u00a0she finally came face-to-face with her\u00a0\u201cstalker\u201d\u2026 a plastic water bottle sloshing around in the bottom of the bag.\u00a0Steph’s initial relief was quickly replaced by\u00a0downright embarrassment, but\u00a0we believe\u00a0she learned a valuable lesson that day\u2026 Though\u00a0her cheeks may have been red, at that moment, Intern Steph\u00a0officially went \u201cgreen\u201d!<\/p>\n

Now, skeptics out there might be wondering, \u201cSloshing around? Wait a minute. Something doesn\u2019t add up! Just what kind of liquid doesn\u2019t freeze in sub-zero temperatures?\u201d\u00a0 Okay, okay, you have a point.\u00a0We reluctantly admit, the contents of that particular bottle might not have been pure water\u2026<\/p>\n

We suspect one of those restless reindeer may have spiked her drink\u2026 Just a theory.<\/p>\n
